It is with great excitement that we can announce the long awaited release of our upcoming VIRPIL Controls Collective controller lineup!


Helicopter pilots both new and old can rejoice as the VPC Rotor TCS Base, VPC Rotor TCS Plus Base and VPC SharKa-50 Grip are now waiting to get into VPCockpits around the world and start a new era of helicopter sim piloting!

VPC Rotor TCS and Rotor TCS Plus Collective Base

As the center point of the VPC Collective Controls lineup, the VPC Rotor TCS and Rotor TCS Plus Bases offer an accessible and exciting way to get into the world of helicopter piloting. 


The VPC Rotor TCS Bases feature an adjustable, metal mechanism with 3 swappable cams to limit the travel of the collective to your preferences.


The Rotor TCS mechanism also features an adjustable clutch - using the access ports on the top and bottom side of the base, you can adjust the clutch without requiring disassembly to easily tune the feel of the base to your preference. This clutch mechanism also ensures that the collective remains in place when it’s not being held. 


The Rotor TCS Plus base features a twist throttle axis input on the arm of the collective as well as a button input and toggle switch. This button and switch works in conjunction with the twist throttle axis idle stop detent system. The side switch limits the twist throttle’s rotation when engaged, when disengaged the full axis can be used, with a stop at the 90 degree point which can be bypassed by using the engine idle button. 



Included with the base is a metal mounting bracket. This bracket can be orientated in a number of different ways to accommodate a variety of DIY and custom mounting systems. Additionally, it can be combined with our VPC Collective Chair Mount adapter which enables the Rotor TCS base to be mounted to the underside of a variety of standard desk chairs. 


We have additionally been working with Monstertech and Obutto to ensure our VPC Collective Controllers can be fitted to as many setups as possible!

VPC Collective Chair Mount Adapter

Collective controls pose an interesting challenge as due to their unique nature it can prove difficult to conveniently mount in a number of setups. Our design team has worked to create an accessible controller setup for anyone wishing to jump into the exciting world of helicopter piloting. An important step to achieving this is our VPC Collective Chair Mount Adapter. 



This adapter mounts to the underside of a range of common desk chairs, using existing mounting points to affix the mount. This ensures a sturdy and convenient mounting option for those without custom cockpits or DIY skills. 

VPC SharKa-50 Collective Grip

To accompany our Rotor TCS Bases, we will be launching our first grip in the collective lineup, the VPC SharKa-50 Grip!


This grip is inspired by the collective controls found on the venerable Ka-50 “Black Shark” helicopter. With this we aim to put the feel of a real collective grip in your hands!


Featuring a metal handle with rubberised grip, you can immediately feel this means business! The grip is equipped with a wide range of inputs to satisfy any helicopter pilot:

  • 2 x 8-way Hats (+ Push)
  • 1 x 2-way Switch (+ Push)
  • 3 x 3-way Toggles (ON-OFF-ON)
  • 3 x Push Buttons

Also included is a sticker sheet so that you can label your grip with either the original inspired Russian or English labels!


This grip demonstrates some of the latest production advancements within VIRPIL Controls and is something we’re truly excited about!

Our other collective grip previewed earlier this year, the VPC Hawk-60 Grip, is estimated to join the lineup in Q4 2021.

The new CM3 variant of our popular MongoosT-50 series features a number of developments and improvements based on feedback we’ve received from the community. As many have likely already guessed, the CM3 features the hugely requested throttle axis detents!

The VIRPIL Controls design team have been working behind the scenes on incorporating a robust, precise and adjustable detent system that provides that satisfying tactile feedback we all want from our VIRPIL gear. After extensive testing in house, and working in collaboration with a number of testers and content creators we now have something we’re proud to present on the newest generation of the MongoosT-50 Throttle.

The VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle detent system offers the versatility required by even the most demanding VIRPILs in the community. The system revolves around all-metal finger lift levers with spring-loaded return and smooth contact metal bearings. 

The detent response can be adjusted in a number of ways by using our interchangeable detent plates. Each detent set features a unique response type that determines how the detent needs to be passed going into the detent range, or returning back to the main axis range. Every MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle includes the following detent sets;

★ “Classic” Detents - Lift to pass detents, push return. 
★ “Classic Plus” Detents - Lift to pass detents, push return but with an additional tactile bump immediately after crossing the detent range.
★ “Warthog-Type” Detents - Lift to pass and lift to return detents.
★ “Aerobatic” Detents - Push through and push return detents.
★ “CosmoSim” Detents - Push through central detent. 

Each detent can also be further adjusted by positioning them at different points in the throttle axis range so you can tailor the response to match your needs!

Adjusting or swapping the detent plates is achieved by simply removing a single screw and adjusting the position or swapping the plate entirely before replacing the screw. This simple process ensures you don’t have to settle for just a single configuration!

The VPC Configuration Software can also offer more advanced programming options by using the throttle detents to implement additional controller states, inputs and LED control.

The VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle features the same ergonomic CM2 Throttle handles loaded with inputs, but now includes a redesigned lever locking mechanism. Further changes include lengthened throttle levers which now provide a greater range of motion, resulting in increased precision. There is also additional clearance to access the button panel when the throttle levers are in the idle position. The throttle axis mechanism has also been improved and strengthened.
